The local tribe proved to be the kindest and most welcoming folk with their unique culture and worldview, very much in love with their land. I lived with a local family in a 150 year old house that was built by the Welsh, who brought Christianity to this remote place.

I painted the view of the village and the church and gifted it to the head of the family, the 90 year old grandmother, whose name was Ivory. This work is now in the living room of the house that you can see on the left of the painting. The very house, that I was so welcomed in during this 1 month art residency in Meghalaya.
